“I am so grateful for Janelle’s contribution to my current professional mission and trajectory. Several years ago, I received a word of mouth referral to meet with Janelle to discuss intellectual property and copyright issues related to my original social skills curriculum. Janelle’s probing and thoughtful questions led me to think bigger. What do I really want to do with my material? Do I want to keep it under lock and key in my practice or do I want to share it with the world? If so, how?
She didn’t realize that her provocative questions caused a period of intense reflection that eventually led to plans for a series of seven books, an on-line a la carte social skills curriculum for parents, educators, and therapists, a You Tube Channel, and a future podcast. What’s next, Ellen? Oprah? Thanks for exploding my brain with possibilities, Janelle. You rock!”
You Need to Meet – Mike Fogel and the Child and Family Art Therapy Center
Michael Fogel, MA, ATR-BC, LPC is a serial art therapy entrepreneur and author. Growing up, he was a sensitive kid who loved reading and drawing comic books; he wanted to be a hero and save the world. The spark of inspiration in his nine year-old self ignited over the course of his twenty five year career. He combined all his passions in one profession, art therapy.
“So few people out there really “get” how to interact with our child and kids like him, but Mike and his staff are clearly special and very highly trained. They truly “got” what he’s about and how to interact with him. The staff provided such a safe, happy space while also preparing the kids to make it out in the real world. I know my son picked up on some specific skills and techniques he can use moving forward.” -Heather, parent
Art therapy is like psychology, but amplified by the use of the creative process and visual communication. In trying to make a positive dent in the world, he created highly regarded child therapy programs around the region, including the Art of Friendship Social-Coping Program (2000), the Child & Family Art Therapy Center (2007), Camp Pegasus (2013), and the BetterWorld Affordable Therapy Program (2019). These programs offer individual child/adolescent therapy for a wide range of challenges and social skills groups for children with mild autism and ADHD. You can learn more about them here: www.ChildAndFamilyArtTherapyCenter.com.
To help the world in a bigger way, Mike is compelled to scale his message to a national and international audience. His new moonshot goal is to reach one million people with his support strategies for children this decade.
This year, he launched a YouTube channel (Mike Fogel’s Art of Friendship) with videos for parents and professionals. Also, we’re thrilled to announce that his first book for caregivers, educators, and professionals was released in September, “The Social-Emotional Guidebook: Motivate Children with Social Challenges to Master Social & Emotional Coping Skills”.
Presently, Mike is seeking strategic partnerships with like-minded problem-solvers who want to create a better world together. He is particularly interested in connecting with a publicist or P.R. firm to elevate the notoriety of my educational products and media. If you are interested in connecting and collaborating, please reach Mike at Mike@ChildAndFamilyArtTherapyCenter.com.
